I respectfully disagree, but it’s true that there are of course other sites with more extensive remains. I still think Flugplatz Oranienburg is worth a visit though.

No, you are correct. Only one hangar is standing. Hardly worth the visit, unfortunately, as it’s nothing special. I was there over the weekend (29.01.22) and would not recommend it.

Hi Maria, I’d say go for it! Last time I was there I did some filming. There were some other people around, walking dogs, just going for a walk, that kind of thing. I’d say you’ll be fine!

Hi! Do you know if it would be possible to film a Music video in this amazing place? Do you think we could get away with filming a small video without permission? :O Thanks for the advice

So we mainly went to see the big hangar. The new fence makes it complicated, but there is a small hole dug under the fence at the west corner that you can squeeze through. There were other people on the grounds, but they were too busy drinking and riding motorbikes to be interested in us. Attention: Some parts of the ceiling don’t look so stable anymore so watch out 😉

My guess: once they housed MIG jets. Now they’re roofless. Maybe the old roof was made of some material or painted in a way to ovoid being easily spotted by satellite pictures.

Just north of here is a strange fenced off section that looks like it’s been through hell and was sealed off due to dangerous elements. Mines and stuff. This is opposite Dekra on the river. Just south of this is an abandoned bridge, which has train tracks running both sides….was probably used to supply the site. Some circular areas (one with water) looks like a gun emplacement (like the bunkers at Gesundbrunnen Berlin) and the A frame type structure are littered around the airfield and look to me either like they were built to protect planes from fire above, which would explain the encompassing U shapes. Possibly guards walked on top and I did see a connected guard house to one of them. One building here looks like a slave prison. Factory workers. It has no windows (but one at the very front – more a big air vent) and a heavy door with one window above that has a grid iron on it. I live near here so I will go and investigate again. I actually found it by accident and came here to figure out what it was…
