Still, it is worth a visit, not for the Schloß itself, but for the abandoned buildings that are right next to it – no fences, no warnings. The main one (with the balcony) had some Nazi inscriptions and symbols splattered across the walls in the dark, dark basement. Seems the fans of the Führer are still alive and well, unfortunately. Nevertheless, despite not getting into the main attraction, the trip was all worth it.

It still exists and you can still go there. Last time I was there, there were a couple of workers there, working very very slowly. As I wrote above, there are plans to restore it and turn it into some luxury hotel. But obviously the investor isn’t in a hurry – these are not great times for opening hotels. It looks like the (foreign?) workers might be sleeping there overnight too. I’d say they’re badly paid and poorly looked after.

The Castel doesn’t look really fancy any more, maybe after the renovation we would be able to enjoy it, more as a touristic attraction than an urban exploration. Nevertheless, entering the castle is actually technically possible, you can climb the fence in the back and slip through a window. We didn’t do it because the keeper was watching and dozens of ramblers where walking around, seems to be a really popular place now!
So finally we went to Waldhous Buch, 12 km biking in the south, which still abandoned and is much more worthy.

There’s a very comfortable looking prefab type of container behind the fence with a cable running from it up to a satellite dish on the roof. There are no signs of any work having been done, and there were lights on in the accommodation, so it looks like it’s being guarded permanently. Polish security guards, judging by the car parked beside the fence.

So no clue if this has to do with the new owners which bought the facility in 11/2017: moz.de/artikel-ansicht/dg/0/1/1617377/. Has anybody visited the place recently?
