I’ll be in Berlin in the last days of December and I am wondering if there’s still anything to see in Vogelsang. I would love to go there, but I wonder if it is worth the trip from Berlin! Has anyone been there lately? Thanks in advance!

The places I explored were:

*Block with the gym (53.05534022526533, 13.370551484603663), school (53.05587088988715, 13.372723646806982) and theatre (53.054797493323896, 13.372924308442395): some nice murals in these buildings as well as the fresco where Lenin used to be (53.05467387009247, 13.373566425675708) are present
*Buildings in the block to the south (53.05414319069858, 13.374208542828237): did not thoroughly explore but did not seem very interesting, there might be a small bunker at the south end of this block (53.0530372414941, 13.376213732800666) but I did not check this out
*Block to the northwest of the block with the gym etc, I explored until (53.05628111520115, 13.36660570511504), most of the buildings did not seem very interesting except for the mess (53.05736955237218, 13.36669587816344). I did not fully explore the area however and there are even more buildings to the north and west of where I explored
*General nuclear area (53.04391910891233, 13.366017199063743): there are some buildings still present but not super interesting (building 50: 53.043692373474606, 13.36616208067852 and a small building used as a bat sanctuary: 53.04350198378867, 13.367937114955334 as well as a mostly ruined building: 53.04323281475202, 13.363475586194625 . More interestingly there are 2 bunkers which you can access here. Bunker one has an entrance at around 53.043872257622105, 13.36732942918939 (it’s a small corridor on the side of the hill that is not next to building 50), the second bunker has 2 entrances: a small building on the top of the hill with a pothole + ladder (53.04372907664564, 13.364644257931978) and a regular entrance with concrete panels at the side of the hill (53.04366110718292, 13.365424624687018) both bunkers are worth a visit
*Launch pad: looked in the area but did not immediately find it (did not look very thoroughly though)
*Ammo depot south: one person mentioned that this area contained an ammo depot, I only found one small building in the area (53.04993409664981, 13.386121606578266), not worth it
*Ammo depot north (this area: 53.0685673585627, 13.39820323798813): did not explore but can be an interesting lead as well (GMaps shows more stuff here)
*Nuclear missile bunkers: there are 2 bunkers and some guard posts and a lifting device: yellow bunker (53.039443800762164, 13.366780627706543) and green bunker (53.03919040526639, 13.36322021993255), yellow bunker has some cool stuff in the area but is not accessible to my knowledge (you can get through the air vent but the small doors inside are closed I think). The green bunker is definitely accessible however (and a main highlight): you go to the big blast doors and to the left you can find air vent tubes, if you squeeze through these tubes you arrive in a small room with a small open door to the right

I did not manage to explore the entire area but what is left is definitely still worth a trip.

Some questions/suggested areas for future explorers

*What is there to see to the north and west of 53.05591122484788, 13.366683745971045 (there are quite some buildings there which I did not manage to explore)
*What is there to see around 53.06866255738627, 13.398530006311901 (I have been told that there are ammo depots there)?
*Is the launch pad still there and where exactly? I looked around 53.04612021740011, 13.377293808389593 but only found a farmer’s field
*Are there any other areas that I missed?

Yes, I think so. There’s so much there and plenty they will never be able to destroy.

Do you think it’s still worth going in the next week or so?

Thank you for posting a link to the documentary! I saw it at Kino Krokodil when they released it and loved it but could never find it online. It’s definitely worth watching. Will include the link above 🙂

Place was still amazing and huge but some buildings were demolished (around 53.057618, 13.359115).
On youtube there is a cool documentary about this place (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSS7cTaqBvM).

It’s HUGE and my biggest mistake was not leaving enough time to see everything. I was easy to access and I did not run into any guards. It’s located a ways down a dirt road/path that’s not accessible to cars, so leave enough time to walk or bring a bike.

I’d recommend saving an offline map with some of the coordinates listed in the comments before going.

One tip – the coordinates for the large bunker for storing nuclear weapons are: 53.0436610, 13.3651810

You can get in via a tunnel in the hillside, it’s pitch black and pretty atmospheric. But be aware this spot, unlike the rest, did seem to be under video surveillance. We were asked by a very friendly security person not to walk on or in the hill, that was it.
