Rheinsberg nuclear plant

The first nuclear power plant in either of the two Germanies was Kernkraftwerk (KKW) Rheinsberg in the DDR, a major source of pride for the East German authorities. It went into production in 1966.

It was shut down (ha! If only it were that easy) in 1990 and decommissioning is still ongoing. It should have been completed by now but it ain’t that simple to pull the plug on a nuclear power plant, not even a small one.

The photos were taken in 2015.
